We managed to go on air with our habit change app and got almost 15min prime time on nation-wide TV in Germany. Whoop whoop 🔥 You know Shark Tank? The German spin-off is called "Die Höhle der Löwen" - lion's den. Sharks, lions, angels? Confusing world.

After a few rounds of debating with Apple Review, we also managed a to get our app up for Pre-Order. (Note to myself: add an extra week for this next time. The rules on Pre-Order are not clear at all...)

So now our app listing is already online and we would like to make the best of it,
so that users can find us while we are still putting finishing touches on the app,
getting ready for the real launch.

I think the concept is already getting quite clear from our app screenshots and the listing description. But you're the screenshot and ASO guru. How can we do even better?

Hey Maruis! Sorry for the wait - have been prepping for launch and some things have fallen to the wayside.

I'm looking at your Android app since it's in English:

I love the screenshots. They are well designed and add clarity to what the app does. That said, users will not see the screenshots until they tap into your store listing. This means that your app title needs to be concise and also help explain the core offering. If it doesn't, users will only see the app icon + title, which currently are both very abstract.

If you want to grow organically from user searches, I suggest taking some time to add more clarifying keywords into your app name and, if possible, see if you can alter your app icon so that it helps explain the core offering without the user needing to tap in or read.

This is what a new user will see from search results. If they have never heard of this app before, it doesn't help explain it.

Hope this helps!
Hey Tim, no worries - thank you for your feedback!

I just realized I only shared the German iOS AppStore link, here is the US english one for completeness:

(Launching a product in two languages is no fun... 😬)

You're welcome to have a look there as well, but things are quite similar in both stores still at this point.

>If you want to grow organically from user searches, I suggest taking some time to add more clarifying keywords into your app name

Yeah, I guess that would be helpful indeed. That always seems like a balancing act between trying to have a "tidy" appearance and actually being found in searches. If you put too much stuff in there, it seems like you obviously try to sell something full-throatedly, which I would think could be off putting for a product in our market segment in particular.

We do have seen a lot of organic searches around "omline" though, which happened to be very central in the TV show. (Quite some lessons learned how to make an appearance on TV...) So we might want to try to incorporate that in our store listing names.

>see if you can alter your app icon so that it helps explain the core offering without the user needing to tap in or read.

That one feels tricky. Coming up with an icon which explains our rather abstract product is hard. Especially if it's supposed to still look visually appealing and not cluttered from info or text. If you have any ideas how we can optimize our icon, that would be welcome for sure.
